1. How was the earth formed?

The Bible tells us that, ‘In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth’ (Genesis 1 verse 1). The earth was created. The power that created the earth was the word of God. God spoke the word, and the earth came into existence. In Hebrews 11 verse 3 we read, ‘By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.’ God has the power to create substance and matter from nothing by the command of His word. The Bible records in Psalm 24 verses 1 & 2, ‘The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.’ In Genesis 1 it states that God created light and darkness, the plants, animals, birds, fish and mankind in six days. God saw everything that he had created and said that it was good. God rested from his work on the seventh day. The Qur’an teaches that the earth was formed by Allâh in six days. Surah 50 Qaf ayah 38 says; ‘We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in six days, nor did any sense of weariness touch us.’
