3. Why did God create male and female?

In the Bible it is recorded that God said ‘It is not good that the man should be alone’ in Genesis 2 verse 18; and then in Genesis 2 verse 22 it says ‘so he made woman to be a help to him.’ In Genesis 1 verse 27 -28 it states that God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them. And God blessed them and God said to them, ‘be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and take dominion over it, and rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that lives on the face of the earth.’

So we conclude that God created Man male and female for: companionship; worship of God; intimate relations and procreation; and to reflect the image of God as people in unity, God being three persons in perfect unity. God wants to be the third person of every marriage relationship so two humans, a male and a female can dwell together in unity. Finally, God made mankind both male and female to rule over all living creatures on earth. This shared leadership or governorship, is a partnership to rule, manage, and multiply all living things on earth for God’s glory.
