In Psalms 58 verse 11 it states: And men will say, ‘Surely there is a reward for the righteous?’ Matthew 6 verse 1 warns the righteous: ‘Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven.’Proverbs 11 verse 18 says: ‘Evil people get rich for the moment, but the reward of the godly will last.’ Proverbs 22 verse 9 is clear about the reward of the generous person; ‘Blessed are those who are generous, Because they feed the poor.’ To be blessed by God we should feed the poor generously.
In Surah 2 ayah 110 (Al Baqarah) it states that we should be: ‘steadfast in prayer and regular in charity: whatever good you send forth for your souls before you, you will find it with Allâh: for he sees well all that you do.’ In Surah 3 ayah 134 (Ali Imrans) it is written; ‘Those who spend freely, whether in prosperity or in adversity, who restrain anger and pardon men, for Allâh loves those who do good.’ In Surah 30 ayah 39 (Al Rum) it states: ‘And whatever you give for interest to increase within the wealth of people will not increase with Allâh. But what you give in zakat, desiring the countenance of Allâh – those are the multipliers/rewards.’
In Surah 57 ayah 18 (Al Hadid) it states: ‘Indeed, the men who practice charity and the women who practice charity and [they who] have loaned Allâh a goodly loan – it will be multiplied for them, and they will have a noble reward.’
