Jesus did not have any female disciples because his itinerant ministry would have come into disrepute had He been travelling around Israel with a team of men and women. Consequently He kept himself separate from the intimate company of women, even though He had a number of close women friends. Jesus could easily have married one of these women. Jesus was on earth for a mission proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom of God and demonstrating its power and authority. His ministry was short. These three years were made high demands on His time and social life. Jesus knew that the eternal purpose of God required Jesus to keep Himself celibate because His ultimate destiny is to be the Bridegroom of the Bride of Christ that will be the Church (refer to Revelation 21 verse 9, 17). God wanted to preserve His Son pure and holy for the Bride which is the Church of the Living God.
